PROMISING three-year-old Rivonia Boulevard justified even-money favouritism at Turffontein on 9 October, coming home over 3 lengths ahead of the pack in a Maiden Plate over 1450m at Turffontein.
Justin Vermaak commented: “Rivonia Boulevard has always been highly regarded by our camp, we race the son of Count Dubois with Chris and Erich Van Niekerk and we started him out early in Cape Town after we passed him through the sales ring at the CTS RTR.
“He came to hand quite early and he managed a place on debut followed up by a good third in the SunMet day feature, the Kuda Sprint, which was a pleasant surprise considering he is bred for more of a trip and still had so much scope.
“We raced him in JHB afterwards where he disappointed but he was coming up with a few soundness issues, so we put him away and gave him time. He was gelded in the break and his first start back was an impressive one on Tuesday, he sat just in behind the early leaders and quickened to win going away without raising a sweat.
“He features on the CTS RTR log in 16th place and hopefully will do enough to qualify for the big sales race along with our Cape based challenger Vascostreettractor.
Well done to our owners Anthony Destombes, Dion Ramoo, Wilfred Pirzl and Kenny Govender.
