MR Green Street was well beaten in the Listed Langerman over 1500m a few weeks ago – a run likely to look more and more meritorious in time to come because it was won by the top class One World with two high quality runners in second and third.
The GSB two-year-old quickly franked the form with a win over a mile at Kenilworth on Saturday, racing in a Juvenile Plate under jockey Robert Khati.
Mr Green Street (5-1) beat the favourite Lucky Dancer (2-1) by 0.75-lengths in a driving finish and Justin Vermaak commented: “We are very chuffed. We found the right race for him at the right time. He found the run of the race and had one to lead him, but he knuckled down well to fight them off late in the race.”
Mr Green Street, by Gimmethegreenlight, is trained by Champion Trainer-elect Justin Snaith and he races for a GSB Syndicate comprising Neren Singh, Vishnu Colan, David Musikanth and Fabian Oostendorp. The R100,000 CTS purchase is two from four, with stake earnings approaching R160,000.
