GLEN Kotzen trained Herodotus secured his Maiden at Durbanville on 3 October following two good places that started his career.

Herodotus, ridden by Ryan Munger, overcame a wide draw, proving his class as a young horse, mowed down the useful leader Vikram and won going away.

“Now that’s a horse. Feature up next!” tweeted Justin Vermaak of Green Street Bloodstock, who bought the son of Trippi and Pinkyandthebrain for R170,000 at the 2017 National Two-Year-Old Sale. Bred by Heversham Park Stud, he’s earned R82,000 in only three starts.

Justin added: “Glen dropped Herodotus to 1400m which proved the correct decision as he definitely preferred the quicker pace. He will travel to PE for the Racing Association Stakes next over 1600m. Glen has used this race to great effect in recent years and it always throws up potential Cape Guineas and Derby horse for the season, last year it was won by Pack Leader.
