LAST week’s CTS Emperors Palace Ready To Run Sale at Randjesfontein was a watershed event for Green Street Bloodstock. Important new partnerships were forged with prominent owners outside of GSB in the purchasing of eight top quality lots.

Three of the new buys will be going into training with Johan Janse Van Vuuren at the Vaal, two will go to Brett Crawford at Phillipi and one apiece to Joey Ramsden (Milnerton), Gavin van Zyl (Summerveld) and Justin Snaith (Phillipi).

“We have entered into partnership with some leading owners in South Africa and overseas, these two-year-olds have been carefully placed according to the needs of each partnership,” said GSB’s Justin Vermaak.

To Johan Janse Van Vuuren:

(Johan, with his great eye, assisted in the selection of three lots, to race in a partnership with well-known owners Laurence Wernars and Braam Van Huyssteen).

Lot 13: TILL DAWN Await The Dawn colt x Winehouse (Kahal) – R150,000 (with L Wernars)
A nice colt, moves well and looks a beautiful prospect. He comes from the immediate family of August Rush, She’s On Fire and Cream Of The Crop. Watch his gallop here

Lot 57: ONE DIMENSION Visionaire filly x Deo Dia (Kahal) – R160,000 (With L Wernars and B van Huysteen)
Beautiful athletic filly with a nice action, she uses herself well and looks precocious. Johan and I have earmarked her for one of the Ready To Run races, she will get a 2.5kg sex allowance. He won one of first R2R Races with filly Winter Star. Watch her gallop here

Lot 136: BOBBY SHAFTO Visionaire colt x Mediteranean (Saumarez) – R400,000 (With L Wernars and B van Huysteen)
One of the best movers on the sale, Bobby Shafto is a grey like his close relative Rodoille and Blue Tiger. He hails from one of the best families in the stud book and could turn out to be the “steal” of the sale. Watch him gallop, you won’t see many move this well. Here.

To Brett Crawford:

Lot 73: FINAL CHANCE Visionaire colt x Enroute To Heaven (Northern Guest) –R300,000

This strong, scopy colt was my selection as top colt on the sale and we were over the moon to secure him for a racing partnership with French-based Bruno Cayeux, referred to us by our Mauritian client, Alex Henry. This top of the range buy put up one of the most eye-catching gallops on the sale. He’s a mile plus horse. Watch his gallop here

Lot 182: GREEN STREET TRACTOR Captain Al colt x Rock’s Broad (Rock Of Gibraltar) – R350,000
A beautiful Klawervlei bred, one of the best lots on this sale, hails from the family of Announce, Lady Broadhurst and Daphne Donelly. Our partners are Grant Knowles and his “Tractor” syndicate members, successful with several runners so far – Purple Tractor, Orange Tractor, etc., hence the name we have chosen. Watch his R2R gallop here.

To Joey Ramsden:

Lot 124: UNNAMED colt Just as Well x Lodge Of Dreams (Grand Lodge) – R160,000

From the sire of recent Ready To Run Cup winner Chile Con Carne we bought this one for a partnership with a young guy named Jonathan Augustin, one of Bernard Fayd’Herbe’s friends from Mauritius, recommended by trainer Glbert Rousset. He was on Joey’s shortlist and qualifies for the CTS bonus races. Watch his R2R gallop here.

Lot 124, Just As Well colt.

To Gavin van Zyl:

Lot 232: LORD OF WAR colt by Count Du Bois x True Gale (Al Mufti) – R60,000
A lovely colt by the under-rated Count Du Bois, one of my favourite stallions and the sire of current top runner Edict Of Nantes. One of my top choices on the sale and a very nice specimen, a lovely colt. Watch him gallop here.

To Justin Snaith:

Lot 122: OVER ZEALOUS colt by Golden Sword x Lite A Fire (National Emblem) – R45,000
Chris Snaith’s experienced eye spotted this one – a big, strong colt by Golden Sword who moved well at the breeze-ups despite his inexperience, and has plenty of scope. Watch his gallop here.
