GREEN Street Bloodstock will have two runners at the L’Ormarins Racing Festival this weekend and Justin Vermaak has provided pre-race comments:

Border Control (Kenilworth Friday, Race 2, Maiden Plate, 1400m):

“He disappointed us at his last start. Unfortunately he doesn’t help the rider in the race, he spits the bit out and doesn’t travel early. We have taken the blinkers off as it made no difference last time at all. He was a very late foal and is still a bit backward and could be looking for further but if he returns to the form of his prior runs he can win here, his work has been very good again.

Miss Malbec (Kenilworth Saturday, Race 10, MR88 Handicap, 1200m:

“She is in the deep end here, she beat a very weak field by a long way and got penalised accordingly, whether she is up to that MR we will have to see. We have accepted her here as she is on the cusp of the CTS $500 000 1200m race and she will need to beat colts like these receiving the weight she is here, to have a chance in that feature, so this is her “qualifier”. Her work is exceptional as always, she doesn’t scope clean which is why she can throw in a bad run like she did last time, if she gets a soft lead and doesn’t pressure her airways early she can really put in a strong performance, we are hoping for that here.”
