ANTON Marcus scored a record fifth Vodacom July win on Do It Again for Justin Snaith, who saddled the first three past the post.
Jeff Lloyd produced his best ever result in his 26th and final July, finishing runner up on Made To Conquer, while Elusive Silva ran on for third to complete the Snaith trifecta.
Hong Kong bound Majestic Mambo came from the rear to finish fourth.
In a rather bizarrely run race pace wise White River led from the jump but was pulling like a demon, and clearly was only there by default, as there was a farcical lack of pace in the early stages.
Made To Conquer and Fiorella were also up there, but there were many fighters due to the pedestrian gallop.
Made To Conquer then took it up at around the 1400m pole, but coming to the 1000 Grant Van Niekerk on favourite African Night Sky made a rather puzzling decision as he switched the favourite out from behind runners to move up into the lead.
The field then quickly began to spread out as the two Snaith runners opened up a gap of a couple of lengths.
Made To Conquer clearly had the better of the favourite from the top of the straight, and for a while it looked as if the fairy tale was on for the legend Lloyd.
But Do It Again had moved to within four lengths or so of the lead turning for home, and Elusive Silva was also starting to assume prominence.
The Twice Over gelding then produced his customary finish to sweep on by to a comfortable length and a quarter win over Made To Conquer, with a further four lengths back to Elusive Silva.
Majestic Mambo was the only runner to make any progress from way off the pace, and did well to get up for fourth considering the pace of the race.
2016 triple crown winner Abashiri sadly broke down just over 100m from the finish.
