RETIRED Cape Town businessman Roman Szymonowicz travels the world playing poker, and he‘s also a lucky racehorse owner recruited recently by Green Street Bloodstock.
Szymonowicz was involved in racing in the 1990s, but dropped off and Vermaak tells: “Bernard Fayd‘Herbe and I were introduced to Roman by Bob Yearham of Emperors Palace. He bought three horses for racing with GSB, Miss Malbec, Beaute Noire and Black Hall Bar. So far this year he has had 16 runners for 14 places, including four wins. That‘s a great start, unreal!”
Both Miss Malbec and Beaute Noire won this week, Miss Malbec scoring back-to-back for trainer Glen Kotzen at Kenilworth on Thursday and Beaute Noire staking an Oaks claim with her second win for Weiho Marwing at Greyville on Wednesday. Black Hall Bar was touched off a fortnight ago, should go very close next time.
