JODY Fabre from Durban, who won Green Street Bloodstock’s first “GSB Owner for a Day” competition, was treated to a day at Greyville as part-owner of Barbarella Nights on Wednesday.
GSB’s Ashley de Klerk snapped the photo in the parade ring before Race 3 over 1000m and it captured the atmosphere nicely as Jody got to meet trainer Gavin van Zyl and jockey Bernard Fayd’Herbe with Justin Vermaak in attendance.
Barbarella Nights ran a game race, coming to the front with what looked like a winning run, 250m out, but was challenged and headed by Philosopher with 50m to run, finishing second.
Said Jody: “I shouted hard and I truly felt like an owner, which was amazing. I enjoyed meeting Gavin and Bernard and saw things from a different perspective, from the other side of the fence so to speak.
“Thanks to the Green Street team for a memorable day. I actually am interested in getting involved now, I’d like to discuss the nitty-gritties with Justin.”
