THIS is the kind of photo Justin Vermaak will be using in Green Street Bloodstock promotionals for some time to come – it captures a weekend in which GSB-picked Brave Mary, a R40,000 purchase, won the Gr1 Allan Robertson Championship at Scottsville and in which jockey Aldo Domeyer rode six winners at Kenilworth -his sixth coming on GSB’s filly Midtown Manhattan.
Midtown Manhattan, incidentally also a R40,000 buy and also from a CTS Sale, was supported from 6s into 22-10 favourite and she produced a strong sustained run to win under the confident Domeyer.
Midtown Manhattan, by Grey’s Inn from Bergdorf Blonde, is owned by the GSB partnership including Messers Bailey, McGillewie, Ulcoq, Merven, Musikanth, Welch, Padayachee, Bhagwandin, Gordon and Pirzl, who have already shared R122,000 plus in returns on their shrewd buy.
“We were confident of a big performance from this filly going into the race, but her draw was a concern. Luckily it wasn’t a factor and she blew them away. Well done to the owners and to Aldo on his achievement. Thanks to Snaith Racing,” said Justin Vermaak.
