GREEN Street Bloodstock recently launched “After GSB”, an initiative that ensures that our runners are monitored and cared for when they retire from racing.
The latest runner to retire from the track is Castor Cat, a GSB “cheapie” who placed once from five starts but just wasn’t considered good enough to win. She’s gone to Michelle Stewart for jumps training in Johannesburg after which she will be placed at a new home – look how proud and pretty she looks on this photo!
It is GSB’s policy to maximise returns on all runners and Justin Vermaak believes in timeous decisions about their careers so that owners do not fund racing careers when there is little hope.
“That doesn’t mean that the weak runners should be deserted. We give all of them the dignity they deserve in retirement,” said Justin.
