GREEN Street Bloodstock’s Justin Vermaak purchased what he considers to be three excellent lots at last week’s KZN Yearling Sale held at Sibaya Casino.
His first buy was Lot 43, an unnamed colt by Seventh Rock from a half-sister to Silicone Valley, from the immediate family of Trademark. This one was raised by Eugene Freeman at Boland Stud and fetched R160,000.
The Seventh Rock colt will go into training with Alec Laird and Justin commented: “He’s by a dual Gr1 winning sire who produces good colts. He is a big and strapping specimen and we’ll be aiming him at next year’s KZN Millions Race on July Day.”
Next up, Lot 182, a colt by Mambo In Seattle from Captain’s Lullaby, a half-sister to Mambo Mime. Also from Boland Stud, this colt has a top female line and Justin commented: “He will be trained by Sean Tarry for a Mauritius-based client and will also target the KZN Sales Race on the next July day.”
Lot 228 was a bay colt by Lateral from Fine Hope, by Fine Edge. The Birch Bros named him Givinitsum –he’s a half-brother to seven-time winner Tutenkamen from the extended family of Consensual (Just Sensual, et al) – looks a typically tough Vogel Vlei horse ideal for the care of up-and-coming Candice Dawson.
