THE next best thing to a good winner is a good earner, something Coral Queen has become early in her career. She’s paid her way with three cheques from four starts, the latest at Scottsville on Sunday – she’s bound to win soon.
Coral Queen started favourite again, against older fillies and mares over 1400m, but was beaten by another promising two-year-old in Sorceress, with the older ones behind them. The GSB two-year-old was 2.75-lengths away at the line, staying on.
Ma Forte, meanwhile, made her debut for a GSB Syndicate in a 1000m Maiden Juvenile Plate at Kenilworth on Saturday and ran out an excellent second, beaten just 1,25-lengths. This R40,000 buy by Querari is another who can convert second to first in the near future.
