Border Control trumps weak field

CONSISTENCY has finally paid off for Border Control, owned in partnership by Green Street Bloodstock with Lance Sherrell, Greg Bortz, Graham Clarke and Alex Fayd’Herbe.

Border Control (Corne Orffer, 33-10) trumped his field with a game run over 1400m at Kenilworth, Saturday, keeping the 2-1 favourite Cossack Guard at bay late.

Border Control is by Elusive Fort from a mare by Parade Leader and is virtually guaranteed to stay a mile and further on that, but he has shown good pace up to 1400m and the return from 1600m to 7f did the trick.

“He ran a good race in a bad field,” said Justin. “We can only hope he has the confidence now to win again.”

Perhaps, off his 67 merit rating or a bit lower in time, Border Control can pinch a weak handicap.
