A good test for Zelig at Greyville

ZELIG, the R50,000 GSB purchase, takes on nine similarly promising rivals in Saturday’s Listed Gatecrasher Stakes over 1400m on turf at Greyville. Warren Kennedy takes the ride for trainer Gavin van Zyl.

“Zelig’s work has been good, we’ll be using this race as a measuring stick to see how he shapes and we’e hoping for the best, but we can’t have full confidence against Silvano’s worth R1,7 million and R1,2-million, and so on. It’s a decent little field so we’ll be holding thumbs that Zelig can earn some stake money,” said GSB’s Justin Vermaak.

Justin, speaking on Under Starters Orders, made Ice Machine his eachway bet in the Gr1 Rising Sun Gold Challenge. He recommended Silver Mountain and Alexis to go into perms with Inara in the Tibouchina Stakes and said: “Inara is the best filly in the race by a long way, but she’s been up to Johannesburg twice recently and if she fluffs her lines Silver Mountain or Alexis may win it.”
